One of the important moral principles of any state, as referred to the government should be one that upholds human rights, where no one citizen should be restricted of their freedom of expression for it is an individual right. Because all of us value this right, it is therefore only logical that the State execute fairness under its rule and by fairness, I mean that the State has no right to intervene or control our personal decisions. However, while it is sensible that everyone deserves freedom, freedom, on the other hand does not promise a peaceful future and that depends on how this given "free will" is utilised by the ones who receive it. The wrong utilisation of the "freedom" could lead some to err and commit crimes like participating in harmful activities or murder for personal gains and this would only result in a moral catastrophe. Thus, the State should only limit freedom on actions or decisions that are not appropriately beneficial for the greater good.

      Today, governments in many countries are becoming more accepting towards certain behaviours that were once completely deemed immoral. Freedom is a basic human right and thus, the State should not limit one's freedom to possess that. As once said by Argentine soldier and national hero, Jose Martin, "the first duty of a man is to think for himself", thus, would it be morally sound if the government strips one off of its own priortised duty? Absolutely not. The very fundamental reason to account for the increasing number of protests and fight for equality for homosexuals is because they think they deserve to be treated as "normal" by the society. The lack of freedom thus accumulates into protests, as seen in the strong opposition against the Singapore government which placed limits on the Section 377A of the Penal Code, restricting ease on male homosexuals.
