Leadership- The action of leading a group of people or an organization.
The state or position of being a leader.
Leadership is an important role for maintaining your team or even others. Leaders can be anybody in anyway shape or form. You can’t be born to be a leader, like Vince Lombardi said "Leaders aren't born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. And that's the price we'll have to pay to achieve that goal, or any goal." Leadership can influence team members to work hard towards, and commitment to, team goals.
There are different types Leaders. Leaders can either be Task – Oriented or Person- Oriented. In the article Leadership Characteristics by Karlene Sugerman says “Task- oriented leaders are most interested in training, instructing behavior, performance and winning. Person- oriented leaders are more interested in the interpersonal relationships on the team.” As for myself, I’m the Person- oriented leader because I believe if you get to know the person or team you have a better chance of running it and reaching your goals.
Example of Task- oriented leaders are like coaches such Vince Lombardi, Bill Belichick, Bill Parcells, and Bear Bryant. These are coaches that make sure you’re trained the right way, winning as suppose to behavior is always at the best. Another great example was a set of coaches I had when I was in little league in Kissimmee, Florida. They always me sure we was in line with our behavior to them, parents, and in school to others. Our practices were never the same as the last. They made sure was trained the right way. One of the coaches named Josh Day use to say “Today will never be like the last; tomorrow will never seem the same” and hearing those words from him use to scare me. But as I look back and seen the results of what he accomplished was amazing. He led one player to the NFL, and 25 to D1A or D1AA schools. To me that’s a real example of a Task-...
