Television as an Agent of Socialization
          There are some movies or TV shows that help in our social life. They also reflect American culture. Most shows address some current societal problem or trend in order to reflect American life: murder, rape, racism and others. One of the TV shows which have helped to portray America’s culture is the Beverly Hills 90210.
          The show Beverly Hills 90210 attempts to be a portrayal of the life of a typical American teenager growing up in the 80’s and 90’s. The producers of this show tend to integrate many real life situations into the show. Many aspects of America culture are represented on the television show: Csi, Modern family, Prison break and some other shows. This 90210 characters help showcase the ideal way to deal with different types of situations. The show is mostly geared towards teenagers and it is very necessary for them in their daily lives.
          In one of the episode of this show, there was a case which dealt with the subject of murder or homicide. There was a random guy who was playing with a gun which he had acquired during a summer vacation to the mid-west. Accidentally, he shot himself with the gun, which was a tragic to his friends, recollecting days of memories they shared together. This tragedy episode is one of the major problems of teenagers in America. Many innocent children, and sometimes adults, are killed accidentally playing with guns, or by drive-by random shootings. This problem has risen to the top where no could control it, but this show tries to get the message out to people around the world that it is not a safe thing to do. It also raises the question as to why guns are so readily available for everyone, which is not supposed to be so. Every night on news, there are incidents shared by reporters about people suffering from the result of guns.
