The American Revolution, occurring in 1775, was caused by a growing feeling of a right for freedom the colonists desired. In determining whether the American Revolution was started because of colonist’s passion for freedom from Britain, one must assess the extent that the British’s power affected the colonists feel for a need for freedom. Economically, the British decided they would place some of the burden of their debt with the American colonists by including more taxes.   Politically, the colonists began to think of politics and their government differently, realizing that a republic was a better form of government than monarchy. Socially, the colonists began to rebel against the British by refusing to follow almost any of the acts that are passed. Thus, the American Revolution was, in fact, sparked by the colonists growing feeling of a need for freedom.
Economically, because the British had to send ten thousand troops to America because of the Seven Years’ War, so as to protect them, the British were deeply in debt and decided to make the colonists help pay it off by increasing their taxing on them, which helped start a growing sense of American political identity and helped to start the American Revolution and plant the seed of a new nation being born.
Also the British authorities believed in the theory mercantilism, which they thought justified their control over the colonies. The British looked at the colonists as just people to make and sell things and help benefit their own country, and when the colonies began trading with other countries they established the Navigation Law of 1650 which only allowed then to trade through British vessels, which the colonist were not happy about.
