“The Cask of Amontillado” a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe. This short story is written in revenge for something Fortunato did to Montresor before. After what Fortunato seeks his revenge on Montresor he planned a great devious plan. Montresor acts like a friend of his, lures him to the catic culms by providing wine, and for his plan to go with ease asking him questions of his health. .As Montresor plan his plan it doesn’t turn out great for one of them.
Montresor might of have planned one of the greatest plans ever in a short story. Days before he was going to lure Fortunato, he chose the perfect spot where he was going to kill him. In Montresor plan he planned he was going to act like if he was Fortunato friend that was no problem for him. He appeared to constantly ask about his cough on the way down. It says that Montresor asked Fortunato “ You are a man to be missed. For me it is no matter. We will go back; you will be ill, and I cannot be responsible”, but he didn’t care he continued to the Amontillado. Montresor still told him like if he was a friend but he just wanted to go to the Amontillado. There Montresor had all his bricks to bury him alive.
While Montresor was deliberately pretending to be Fortunato’s friend, he was also committing a treacherous act as a friend which is to betray him in the act. In the making of his cunning plan, he plays along the role of a loyal and trustworthy friend of Fortunato’s, who cares about his state of health, and who isn’t planning a concealed plan to murder him. So while he continues to play around he gives him some wine to make him feel better as he makes it to the cellar. This all part of his master plan he can reach the cellar he still tells him you have a cough shall we go back up, but Fortunato wants to make it the Amontillado. Montresor plan keeps going as plan.
