The Iroquois Creation story
The Iroquois story conflict with the bible in many aspects. According to the Iroquois story it said “The woman was in a painful condition during the time of their dispute, and the infants entered the dark world by compulsion, and their parent expired in a few moments.” The author refers to Eve as “the woman” in the story and how she was in great pain during her delivery of the twins. The infants entered the dark world then the woman died which conflict with the book of Genesis. The book of Genesis said “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord (Gen 4:1) And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. (Gen 4:2). According to the book of Genesis the woman bared only one son first then she bared the other later so they are not twins; Moreover, she did not die because she bared the second child after awhile from her delivery to the first one.
Also, according to the Iroquois story it said “The bad mind, while his brother was making the universe, went throughout the Island and made numerous high mountains and falls of water.” The bad mind and the good mind used as a metaphor for the twins. The good mind was creating the beautiful part of the universe while the bad mind was making the harmful regions. In the Holy Bible it said that God created heaven and earth, light and darkness, animals and birds and made man as His image. No one else helped God in his creation, there was no bad or good mind helping Him doing so. He was the only one to create the whole world as the Bible said.
According to the Iroquois story the bad mind was the evil spirit and it’s last words before it got crushed in the earth was that he would have equal power over the souls of mankind after death. In the other hand the Bible said “And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art...
