Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. It’s a very great pleasure for me to able to attend this conference. Before I start my speech, let me ask you a question. Do you think Hong Kong teenagers nowadays are happy? Today I am going to tell you there joys of being a teenager in Hong Kong.
I shall first talk about the entertainment of teenagers. Hong Kong is a shopper’s paradise and there is a fusion of different culture. Therefore, we can buy many different things that we like but no need to travel the other countries. Instead of buying things, we can go to some outdoor activities with friends in holiday because of good weather.
The second thing I want to tell you is about the education. There is maturity education in Hong Kong. We enjoy 12 years of free and also compulsory education. In our school, we can join the other learning experience, student exchange programme and various extra-curricular activities. After we get a high qualification, we may feel optimistic and look forward to a promising career prospects.
Turning to the next question, I will talk about political environment. Then, there are good social welfare, medical care, infrastructure etc. The most important thing is that there is a lot of freedom, not like the mainland China. So we can enjoy freedom of speech in the internet, such as facebook.
A report from Public Opinion Programme, the University of Hong Kong indicate that of the teenagers (about 65%) are spoiled by their parents and so they are blissful in their live. We get a lot of money from our parents and have no financial worries. As a result, we can buy many things that we want. When some international countries detrude new electronic product, we can lure our parents to buy it and change our mobile phone.
Last but not least, Hong Kong is a peaceful and lucky place because there are no natural disasters, like earthquakes. So we are very fortunate that we are living in Hong Kong.
We should count our blessings, treasure what we have,...
