“My First Trip to the Great Smoky Mountain in North Carolina”
In 2002 I took my first vacation without my parents ever. I visited my Ex- Fiancée’s hometown of Bryson City North Carolina, just me her and my best friend enjoyed this vacation. I rented a cabin from my ex’s Uncle; he had built just prior to me arriving in Bryson City a beautiful, log cabin I could still smell the newly fresh cut wood. It was in a great spot to have it built, it had a great view of the other mountains, and long stilts were holding the back side of the cabin halfway off the mountain. When I found that out the day I got there I was a little reluctant at first but I realized that the log cabin was actually built better than modern block homes.
I had just graduated in May of 2002 and I just turned 18 and wanted peace and quiet for once, away from the noisy city life’s extremely loud atmosphere, and take a trip up North to the country where I was hoping to obtain those two easy requests. See my Ex-Fiancé was born in a little town right outside Cherokee North Carolina, called Bryson City, with a small population of just under 900 citizens, but everyone knew everyone, so a lot of gossip was spread. Most of the residents that lived in this small town lived in trailers and such, but with- out a doubt they were the most modest people you could ever meet, great respect, and hospitality is what they gave me. You wouldn’t receive that type of curtsey if you were visiting Tampa. It is also the home to the Great Smoky Mountains Rail Road, that is the main attraction in this small town, I rode on it one afternoon and had a great time, the scenery was so different from that of Tampa’s when they bring you around the mountain it just showed me that nature can be so beautiful.
