This story is narrated by Scout.   She
begins recounting her family history
and how she moved to maycomb.
In the summer of 1993 a boy named
Dill moved into the neighborhood
and they began playing with each other.

One day, they want to lure a mysterious
neighbor that never comes out of his
house.   But they are so scared that they
end up running back very hastily.

September comes around and Dill has
to go back to his hometown.   Scout hates
her teacher Miss Caroline and they end
up having big fights.   One day, a boy
that belonged to the Ewell family made
Miss Caroline cry.   Burris only comes for
one day of school, because they’re family
is too poor.

The rest of the school year passes grimly
for Scout.   As she passes by a knothole in
a tree in the mysterious neighbor’s lawn
(The Radleys) she sees two pieces of

neighbors.   The boys also try sticking
a note in the Radleys window but
again, Atticus catches them.

They obey Atticus until the last day
before Dill has to go.   They sneak into
the Radleys   and walk around the house
until they see a man with a hat.
They run away and hear a shotgun
fire.   Jem got his pants stuck in a
fence and he retrieves it the next
day.   A few days after school has
started they begin to find numerous
“gifts” in the knothole.   Finally,
someone plugged the hole with cement.

For the first time in years, Maycomb
endures snow and the children have
a great time playing in the snow.   Later
during the night, Miss Maudie’s house
is on...
