To meet the challenges inherent in 21st-century work careers and organizations, employees are required to continuously update their knowledge, skills, and work habits, and organizations to invest highly in the development of their human capital (Ilgen & Pulakos, 1999)
. Training refers to an organizations planned efforts to help employees acquire job related knowledge, skills and abilities with the goals to apply these to the job.(Noe et al. 2004). Training mentally, physically, socially and intellectually is not only essential for any firm in order to raise the productivity of the firm but also to the development of personnel in any organization.(Lucas B. 2008). Adeniyi (1995) observed that staff training and development is a work activity that can make a very significant contribution to the overall effectiveness and profitability of an organization. Training is aimed at either increasing or creating knowledge, developing skills or changing attitude.

Although complementing each other, Training and development of individuals can have different outcomes for the firm, whilst training encompasses those activities which are designed to provide the learners with the know how and skills required to carry out their present jobs, through development the skill goes beyond the task at hand (R. Wayne Mondy. 2008). Hence it could be said that through training the firm makes an effort to increase the overall profitability and effectiveness of the entire organization.
