The business I have decided to focus on for my trends is the one I intend to start after I graduate. My plan is to open my own bakery, focused on cookies and pastries rather than breads, either with a permanent storefront or to produce products out of my home and sell them at various farmer’s markets in Rochester. I intend to provide a variety of dietary options, such as gluten free, sugar free, and vegan varieties, while using as many organic ingredients as I can and maintaining a wholesome, homemade ambiance. I also intend to cater for special events, such as weddings and holiday parties.
Family structures are becoming more diverse.
Due to my increased product cost, caused by higher quality ingredients, the cost of my products will be higher than average. I intend to keep it as low as possible, but I know that, realistically, to make any money I have to charge more than what some people would want to pay. However, due to the increase of married couples without children, I think I will have a steady customer base. I will have customers with spendable income who might be more than willing to pay extra for a quality product.
People around the world are becoming increasingly sensitive to environmental issues as the consequences of neglect, indifference, and ignorance become ever more apparent.
Because I hope to use as many organic ingredients as possible in my products, I hope this will give me an advantage by appealing to the increased demand for environmentally safe products. Organically grown ingredients have less of an impact on the environment and our bodies. While I may not be able to achieve USDA certification, I at least intend to be up front with my customers about what products I use, and what I use that is not organic.
The work ethic is vanishing.
