Causes of World War 1 History Essay
The outbreak of World War 1 in 1914 lasted till 1918. The result of developing pressure in Europe that occurred, due to a list of long term causes were the Alliance System, Nationalism, Imperialism and Militarism.
Militarism is a strong military spirit or policy to be prepared and use it aggressively to defend national interests. It contributed to the outbreak of war because countries were regularly trying to complete a higher military than other countries for superiority. When war came, most militaries started attacking each other to defend and to conqueror.
The alliance system is the act of allying or state of being allied. The purpose of alliance is to make the agreement between two or more states for mutual support in case of war. The 2 main alliance groups that formed before WW1 where the triple alliance and triple entente, which consisted of Germany and Austria, and the entente consisted of Great Britain, Russia and France. Belonging to an alliance at the outbreak of World War 1 was that if one country in the alliance went to war, the Allie would have to go to war along with the other country even if they didn't want to go. Alliances contributed to the outbreak of war by forcing the great powers of Europe to go to war when their allies died.
Imperialism is a spirit or aspirations common to the whole of the nation. Nations wanted colonies because most countries that that went out and established colonies didn't have many natural resources, so they made colonies in places that had good resources. That way, they would send the materials back home and sell them for a profit. The Britain Empire at those times had the most colonies. It included Australia, Canada, South Africa, India and more.
